Reduction In Business Licensing Costs

Interim Mayor, Emma Nilsen has been working to improve the city overall. With changes to taxes, the vehicle mandate the LSPD support, the changes have been extremely positive. Many residents have mentioned the drastic improvement in their finances following some of these changes. It seems the Interim Mayor hasn’t stopped there though. In a recent statement, Emma Nilsen confirmed a reduction in Business Licensing Costs. Official Statement “Dear Citizens and Business Owners of Los Santos, I am pleased to announce an important update following thorough discussions with the City Board and careful review of our business licensing structure. After considering the concerns raised by many in our community, I’m excited to share that we have successfully negotiated a substantial reduction in the costs for business licenses. This adjustment aims to make it easier for entrepreneurs—whether you’re just starting out or expanding your operations—to thrive in our vibrant city. Our goal is to foster a thriving business environment while ensuring that the barriers to entry remain low, especially for those passionate about contributing to the growth and success of Los Santos. We are committed to supporting our local businesses and fostering economic growth, and this revised fee structure is just one step towards achieving that vision. Thank you for your continued dedication to our city. I look forward to seeing how this change will help unlock new opportunities for innovation and success across Los Santos.” What Does This Mean? A business license is required to operate and generate a profit as a business in Los Santos. Without a license, you run the risk of being fined or closed down by the government. Before, these licenses were quite expensive, often exceeding $10,000 or more. For example, before the reduction, opening an automotive garage would cost you around $19,000. However, with the new reductions, this now would cost you $750. This is an average reduction of 96.05%. A massive difference, making opening a business much more affordable. 2 0

LSPD Funding Approved Following Press Release

On the 15th November 2024, the Interim Mayor, Emma Nilsen released a statement in regards to supporting the Los Santos Police Department. In a previous article, we covered the statement and that Emma Nilsen would look to support the LSPD with their requests and needs. In the last 48 hours, Cameron Briggs of the LSPD has applied for $1,250,000 in funding to assist with the current outgoings of the department. Briggs’ reason for the funding request was to assist with “salaries, and the upkeep of our vehicle fleet, such as repairs, and fuel.” This request went quiet for several days, however the Interim Mayor has confirmed that the funding has been approved for the LSPD for the requests listed. This means the funding will help the Los Santos Police Department to continue their strategy around growth and improvement. Vital Funding For A Vital Service In recent months, the Los Santos Police Department has struggled to operate efficiently with the limited budget. With new officers joining the force, the department needed more vehicles, more firearms and most importantly, more facilities for training and improvement. Under the reign of Victor Chase, the support for vital services like LSPD and LSFD was lacking. In the weeks leading up to the abandonment of office by Victor Chase, Emma Nilsen was appointed the finance position within the office of the mayor. However, Victor Chase still didn’t look to support vital services. It seems Emma Nilsen as Interim Mayor understands the pressure on these services. The funding approved for the Los Santos Police Department will make a huge difference. 2 0

Bike Chase Results In Injury

On the evening of the 22nd November, the Los Santos Police Department engaged in a pursuit with a motorcycle in Idlewood. The motorcycle in question had a BOLO following a 911 call from a concerned neighbour, who saw the male trying to enter a property. The LSPD, equipped with two motorcycle units gave chase to the bike through the city, passing Verona Beach, Santa Marina Beach and Rodeo. The chase was high speed, and dangerous. The bike in question was a Buell Hammerhead, which is known for being able to carry speed through the city, without issue. The rider had a strong riding ability. However, it wasn’t strong enough for the officers on police motorcycles. Initially, the rider had a small accident in Rodeo. However, it wasn’t severe, and the rider managed to mount his motorcycle to go again. However, the rider entered the boundary of Red County, where the power of his motorcycle got the better of him. He had a collision at high speed with a static object, which sent the male across the road and into some dirt. Quickly, the police managed to stop and assist the male. Upon checking the male, he was in a pretty bad way. Within just a few minutes, an ambulance from the Los Santos Fire Department arrived to attend to the male. With such a collision, severe injuries seemed likely at the time. However, the rider was dressed for the occasion, with a racing suit and full face helmet. The paramedic attended to the male quite quickly, assessing his injuries and his overall condition. On such a high speed road in Red County, the risk of further accidents was building. The police and ambulance teams worked quickly to resolve the incident and to attend to the male. Within a few minutes of assessing the male, we overheard the paramedic ask one of the officers to “get a splint from the RA for his leg.” While we don’t have exact confirmations at this time, it would suggest a leg was seriously injured or broken. Statement From Maria Snow, Police Officer On-Scene “So we had a 9-1-1 call representing a trespasser in the call. When we arrived to the scene, my sergeant here took the pursuit and I checked the residence complex. It was a duplex with a basement, it was clear. I made sure to clear it first. Then I assisted in the pursuit. After that, the suspect was fleeing everytime, but we got him this time. Law never sleeps. What I could note at is he crashed twice where he made us draw our guns twice, where it would’ve made a shootout. If you noticed, I drew my firearm twice at him, were he chose everytime to go away without stopping the whole evasion.” We finally asked Officer Snow her opinion on if motorcycles are being used more often for crime. She replied; “No actually, it happens on rare occasions. Thanks to our department, we have every equipment to handle and guide our community to safety. Every hour, we make our streets safer and safer. I had a quote that said from my principal at my college, I’m a Psychology graduate. The quote says, “One represents the team, and the team represents one.” 2 0

Failing Fire Department Risks Lives

Following the press release from the mayor, in regards to funding the LSPD, we investigated the Los Santos Fire Department. A vital service in the city, we wanted to understand the current conditions within the Fire Department and the support they required. “The Structure Of FD Is Shattered” We spoke to one firefighter, who we won’t be naming at this time due to internal pressures, who explained the issues with the Los Santos Fire Department. “All I can say is, the FD isn’t in a good spot right now whatsoever.” We also mentioned that things in Los Santos Fire Department seem to be a mess. He said “To be honest, they are. But I assure you, we’re doing our best.” Following this, we mentioned that the captain seems to be steering the wrong way, while the team are rowing the boat. The firefighter responded “That’s been the thing around here for the last months. The chief and his batt are in some disagreement I presume.” Lack Of Vital Action Through our visit to the Fire Department, we also found that one of the RAs had been out of service for 14 days. With the funding available for repair, it seems the existing leadership failed to meet the needs of Los Santos. Following this, we were also told about how the overall equipment is lacking in every sector. The training is insufficient and the division responsible for training contains no staff currently. This is also the case for FD relations, Coroner Division and also the Arson Division. The Fire Chief has had ample opportunity to rectify these issues, but hasn’t worked towards doing so. His lack of effort has been noticed across the department, with several firefighters questioning his dedication and ability. Failing Fire Chief In The Department The key issues are relating to efforts and actions within the department. The issues mentioned include; “We as the first responders team are trying our best here, from picking up night and day shits to doing some work that is above our paygrade, and that’s just to keep the boat floating.” Time To Take Action The Los Santos Fire Department is a vital service. Responsible for emergency care, fire and many other categories of incident in Los Santos, the fire department should be one of the highest priority services. Yet, it isn’t. The funding is low. The equipment is insufficient. The training is lacking. The team assigned to the fire department are underpaid. They are struggling. The team relies on the motivation of “our beloved city” to keep things ticking. But now is the time for change. We have written an urgent email to the mayors office. 2 0

Interim Mayor Goes Quiet

On the 14th November 2024, Emma Nilsen was appointed as Interim Mayor. Her role was to replaced Victor Chase due to the sudden abandonment of public office, along with several other government officials. In the early days of her position, we saw many changes. Including a new vehicle mandate, a reduction in car taxes and also promised funding for the Los Santos Police Department. However, since those changes, we haven’t heard anything from the office in regards to further improvements. In her announcement regarding the Los Santos Police Departments Funding, she said; “The LSPD is at the heart of our city’s safety efforts, and we must make sure our officers have the tools, resources, and support they need to carry out their mission effectively.” However, it seems that the concern isn’t of maximum priority. The Los Santos Police Department are still in dire need of more funding. Especially to upgrade service vehicles and to continue with the expansion of key tools in the fight against crime. Also, the dead of Isabella Rossi was to be at the top of the priority list for the mayoral office. However, it seems the investigation has gone quiet. (Article on Isabella Rossi Investigation coming soon!) What Would We Like To See? From Interim Mayor, Emma Nilsen, we would like to see further positive change. Typically in this event, an election is planned and people are presented with the opportunity to campaign for mayor. However, it seems that planning for an election isn’t in the pipeline yet. We have written to the relevant individuals to understand the plan for a permanent mayor. 1 0

Overturned Cement Truck In Idlewood

On the evening of the 19th November 2024, the Los Santos Fire Department received reports of an overturned cement truck, on fire, in Idlewood. Upon arrival at the scene, the cement truck was on the roof, and was bursting with flames. A fire engine arrived shortly after the reports, geared up to tackle the blaze. The cement truck was also blocking the road, causing serious traffic disruptions. Firefighters from the Glen Park Station worked tirelessly as a team, to extinguish the fire. Without the dedicated firefighters, this blaze could’ve spread to neighboring buildings and businesses. Shortly after the fire department setup attack lines for the fire, officers from the LSPD arrived at the scene to establish a perimeter. They also worked to understand the cause of the fire, along with anybody responsible. Statement From Brian Allen, LSFD Firefighter We spoke to Brian Allen, the firefighter on scene about the situation. He said; “Speed is key! Two simple words. Speed kills. I haven’t investigated the vehicle yet, but apparently the cause of fire is some electrical fuses going bad.” Most importantly, he said; “Speed is key! Speed Kills.”. Solid Approach From LSTS Following the negative publicity towards Los Santos Traffic Services, they responded to this incident quickly and got to work straight away. The operator on scene worked with both the LSPD and LSFD to keep the scene safe while organizing removal of the large cement truck. Overall, handled with precision and the vehicle was removed from the road in a timely fashion. Following This Incident The cement truck was found overturned, and on fire. The driver managed to escape the blaze and reported the fire to the correct authorities. However, it doesn’t end there. Sergeant Whitelock from the LSPD began investigating the matter from the moment he stepped on the scene. As the investigation develops, we will continue to uncover the story. 0 0

Just a few hours after the initial attack, officers arrested an individual leaving this garage on one of the suspect motorcycles. The LSPD managed to continue investigating the lines of enquiry and all three were arrested as a result. However, in an attempt to capture evidence, other related vehicles or even people linked to the organized criminal group, or OCG for short, they raided the garage without prior warning. We witnessed one officer force the front door open with a door ram, with his team running into the building as a matter of urgency. From leaving the police station on perishing square to raiding the garage was a matter of minutes. The team moved quickly, and with precision.
